- HTTPS and SSH access are mutually exclusive in the Moto firmware. A major limitation. I tried the trick for rooting the 501 on my NVG589, but it errored out.

Trying to find assistance in updating my router's firmware is like trying to make a cow fly. I've been trying to find an updated firmware file for my NVG589 (oh, and by the way, my ISP is Frontier) and that's to no avail. I've went to ARRIS' website, Frontier's, Motorola's, and even AT&T's (as they were my ISP before Frontier took over), and done about 5 hours of googling. Apparently, Frontier is supposed to force the update to my router automatically (they haven't) and if that weren't to happen, a factory reset should've forced it to update. Nope. In other news, about a year ago our router was replaced with this NVG589 from Frontier (even though it still says AT&T on the front of it) and of course, it's absolute garbage. It hasn't been supported in so long, that even on the websites for all the companies i already listed, there wasn't a single trace of support/firmware file downloads for this router/modem gateway whatever-the-heck they call them. Even on ARRIS, there was a section in the support for 'Discontinued Products' and there wasn't any trace of the NVG589. This thing is so old, awful, dictated, and non-consumer that:

1: It doesn't support Dual-Band (2.4 and 5 GHz bands), only 2.4
2: There isn't even a trace of it on the 'Discontinued products' section of ARRIS support/downloads
3: There is nothing online in terms of custom firmwares or any .bin firmware files for the NVG589 that work (as there is an option to manually update the firmware listed in the update section of the router settings, but no automatic/download automatically from the internet option)
4: I can't even change something as simple as the router's DNS

5: I can't edit any QoS settings
6: The wireless settings are extremely limited

7: My speeds are alright (I only pay for 18mbps and that's about what I get) but it's extremely inconsistent (even after restarts and factory resets)
Overall it's extremely awful and I would like to just update the firmware somehow to at least add some sort of new features and possibly help with the network inconsistency. My current version is 9.1.0h13d5 and I know that there's newer, so don't even try telling me that it's updated (I've done some research, believe it or not).

If anybody has a link to a newer version of firmware (to reiterate, it's the Motorola/ARRIS NVG589, ISP is Frontier) or has any methods to help me update the firmware just let me know. Thanks.
